About

The Kelly Campbell Collection was born from my lifelong love of unique fashion and an obsession with handbags. I’ve always believed the pieces we carry should feel personal, expressive, and truly one-of-a-kind. For years, I dreamed of creating handbags that weren’t just accessories, but little worlds of texture, color, and story.

The very first version of this idea actually involved repurposing old Broadway backdrops. But when my husband, art advisor Nick Campbell, came into my life, so did a whole world of extraordinary contemporary artists. Suddenly I was surrounded by studio floors covered in paint, drop cloths layered with gesture and color, and the raw, intimate materials behind the scenes of great artwork.

That’s when the idea shifted into what it is now:
a collaboration between myself and working artists upcycling their paint-covered studio drop cloths into wearable art and truly one-of-a-kind handbags.

If I’m being honest, I started this project selfishly just wanting a few special bags for my own collection. But every time I carried one, people stopped me to ask about it. Friends started requesting bags for themselves, for birthdays, for holiday gifts… and before I knew it, I was racing to get a small batch photographed and a website up so I could share them.

Each bag is hand-cut and sewn in Austin from original studio canvas used in the artists’ creative process. Crafted from hand-painted canvas and finished with a natural linen lining, every piece highlights the raw texture and character of the artwork, an art-driven alternative to traditional leather.

Because these materials are already full of life, color, and history, the more you wear them, the better they get by softening, shaping, and developing a patina that becomes uniquely yours.

Although many people know me professionally as Kelly Frye, launching this collection felt like the beginning of something new, something shaped by my marriage and the creative world it opened up to me. Naming it the Kelly Campbell Collection is my way of honoring that.

And because these bags are born from true collaboration,
20% of proceeds go directly back to the artist, and 5% goes to a nonprofit of their choosing.

These pieces bring together everything I love: art, craftsmanship, and individuality. I’m genuinely excited to finally share them with you. If you carry one out in the world, tag us @KellyCampbellCollection. I’d love to see how it becomes part of your story.
